LOCAL WATER AND SOIL PROTECTION PROGRAM

Cover Crop

Eligibility & Guidelines:

  • Cost-Share Rate: 50/50 reimbursement, up to $3,000
    (Reimbursed 50% of seed costs, max $25 per acre) 
  • Eligibility: One application per FSA farm number/landowner 
  • Requirements
    • Must have a current KY Ag Water Quality Plan 
    • Wheat as a single species is not eligible 
    • Seed costs only are eligible for reimbursement 
  • Monitoring: Applicants may be selected for a random spot check

Gateway & Barn Access Program

Eligibility & Guidelines:

  • Cost-Share Rate: 50/50 reimbursement, up to $1,000
    (Covers gravel and woven wire geotextile fabric) 
  • Eligibility: One application per FSA farm number/landowner 
  • Requirements:
    • Must have a current KY Ag Water Quality Plan 
    • Only gateways and barn access points are eligible 
    • Driveways are not eligible for this program 
  • Monitoring: Applicants may be subject to spot-checks

Farm Cleanup Assistance Program

Eligibility & Guidelines:

  • Farm must be located in Warren County and have a Farm Serial Number (FSN) 
  • One application per farm number/landowner 
  • Must have a current KY Ag Water Quality Plan 
  • A “farm dump” is defined by the KY EPA as:
     “An area on a farm used to dispose of household garbage, junk furniture, appliances, farm chemicals, and anything else that is no longer usable.” 
  • WCCD will fund up to four cleanups per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30)
  • Applications will be reviewed and approved by the WCCD Board of Supervisors
